We had breakfast with Tony on the last day, and sent him to the airport.  We took a walk in the city center and observed their local market. We scored some sunshine there but it was still cold. We went to a very expensive restaurant called “Ratskeller”.  At night, I was too tired to find some people to chat in the lobby so I went to my room and got some sleep. The next day, Sonny and I were planning to go to a museum called “Residenz” but we were running out of time, Sonny had to catch his flight at 14:30, so we decided to go to a cathedral called St. Maria. Today is the last Sunday of the church year, next Sunday will be the Advent, we asked a German woman. After sending him off from the train station, I was alone in Munich. I visited two museums, the Munich city museum and the Jewish museum, I spent hours in these two.  View from St.Peter Cathedral I went to the hotel and tool out my luggage, and I found out that my ...

2015.11.20 CSU Congress Party and Angela Merkel

圖片
The third day, we had a city tour in the morning, we took bus and looked around Munich, I saw many familiar places, which I had been to, for example, the palace museum. Then the bus took us to the CSU congress (Parteitag 2015) and I never expected the place like this, tons of people, comprising of press, politicians, celebrities and guests like me. We could have free meals, beer and basically everything you name it. Here came the most powerful women in the world, the German chancellor Angela Merkel, to give a speech about the refugee crisis. She showed up like a lion and titanic, I was overwhelmed by that. However, I was very disappointed at the translator, I think she didn’t do a good job and that I had to ask Germans for the true meaning. After the speech, we had an international banquet at the same place and I stayed till 12:30 am. From 11 pm, people started to go to party room organized by German Young Union.  Bruno(Brazil)、Ghana Munich Parliament A guy surf...

2015.11.19 Country Report for IYDU Members

圖片
The second day of the IYDU event started with the speech of the chairman, Jason, American.  We prayed for the lives lost in Paris attack, and later on, the country report. Sonny and I presented our country about Cross-Strait relations. We had prepared a PPT for our presentation but unfortunately they didn’t provide a projector in the conference room. Anyone who needed to present didn’t have to go to the front, just sat on the chair and used the microphone on the table then spoke. I was not too surprised to present it this way since Tony had given us the mental preparation so that we knew we had to be flexible to tackle any challenges. Although sonny and I didn’t sit next to each other, we still made it. Our content was to present the history from 1949, when Chiang Kai-Shek was defeated by Mao and his troop retreated to Taiwan, to the youth vision toward future. We made them better understand the situation and some of them also asked us the result about Ma-Xi meeting, the ...

2015.11.18

Sonny and I finally landed in Germany. It took us two hours to get to the hotel and went to see the IYDU members. When we met Kai, the general secretary of IYDU, he picked us up at the entrance of the parliament. We entered in the room and at that time they were discussing about TTIP ( Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership). As far as I know, the U.S. and whole Europe can benefit from this contract, but inside are more complicated and further negotiation needs to be done. The participants of IYDU span from Korea, India, Ghana to Belgium, Bosnia, UK, USA and Germany. I was surprised to see so many different countries. During a short break time, I started to talk to some of them and exchanged each’s name card. Their all have political background and at least know a few things about Taiwan. And the age spans from 20 to 30, all young delegates. I am not the youngest one. Later on, we took a bus to Aying, where it has a traditional Bavarian brewery restaurant. We were stunned by t...

2015.11.17 Second Time to Germany

After almost three months studying things about the refugee crisis and the cross-strait relations and whatever international events that can all be my topic in the conference, Tony, Sonny and I set off to Germany today. Sonny and I took bus to the airport and met Tony there, when we got on the airplane, I could no longer use my limitless data to surf the internet until I get back after 11 days, that made me feel insecure at the beginning, but this time is different from my first time flying to Germany since last time I travelled all alone, I could find no one to speak with. This time I am not alone, we can both help each other, Sonny is a trust-worthy guy, I feel lucky that he is my partner. When we were on the airplane, Sonny met his friend from way back, her name is Yi-Ting. She is now working for Emirate and she told us lots of stories about herself. We were lucky this time there’s not many passengers so we could have larger space to sleep on. We transferred in Dubai, we were first...

2015.10.16 Graduation Photo

圖片
We took some great photos this morning, but it's for our graduation next year. I haven't seen some fellows for a long time since last semester ended. Only our teacher joined us, and some classmates are having fun in other countries, that's college. You never see the whole class gathering together not even the moment when we are going to graduate. We never know who will be with us in the future, but right now, this moment is real, it is happening, I am here.
