Jerry x Germany x Taiwan

I spent two nights at Chien Tan hotel, I was send people off in the morning. My best German, Anabel, she came to visit Taiwan after she attended a workshop in Philippines. I met her in the afternoon at Taipei 101. Ines had hosted her ever since she arrived in Taipei on Friday night. Ines is such a fantastic host and tour guide. She took Anabel to many places like night market, hot spring, mountain, clubs and so on. They met a Canadian guy, Zul. Zul is a backpacker, they met each other while having the hot spring. When I saw them, they seemed like knowing each other for a while. Ines suggested that we dine at 春水堂 , where the bubble milk tea originally was invented. We ordered beef noodle, dried bean curd, pig blood cake and most importantly, pearl milk tea.  We had a wonderful dinner. Today is the last day of the IYDU event. We were going to the National Palace Museum, I saw everybody’s face didn’t look very vital, probably it’s because some of us hit the town last night. The weather was very good, sunny everywhere. We went to hot spring in the afternoon, first we had a lunch at a restaurant beside the hot spring with a nice view from the window. This was my first time going to hot spring with foreigners, and I had the feeling that they would love it, the truth is, they really did! We had a lot of fun there and I decided that next time I would bring other friends to hot spring. I had dinner at Ning Xia night market, we were at a special restaurant that served an assortment of local delicacies, such as deep-fried chicken, pig blood cake, tokoyaki (squid ball), and for sure, stinky tofu. Early in the morning, I took bus from my apartment to Howard Hotel, it took me almost an hour on the bus and I couldn’t get even a sear since it was rush hour, I did it instead of taking a taxi was for the budget reason. When I arrived the hotel, I found that I was the last one, everybody was waiting for me. They were very nice Americans as we hit it off very quickly. Later on, the bus took us straight to the presidential hall, we entered in from the front gate which was super special since only VIPs can have the access to do that. I felt very privileged. All electrical devices were not allowed to be brought in side so we had it kept in lockers. The guided tour of the hall was very amusing for me, as a Taiwanese I didn’t know much about this unique and historic building before. Today marked the IYDU’s Asia Youth Forum Founding Meeting and me being one of the three Taiwanese delegates to present our country. I left my apartment early and hopped on a bus, but suddenly I got a call from Lucy, vice CEO of Zephyr foundation, that Millie, who is her assistant slept through the alarm and she couldn’t wait for her to come. Lucy had to go to the building (where we are going to have our ceremony) to set things up but the most important ones were left in the office, only Millie had the key to get in. I just hopped off immediately after the call, grabbed a cab then headed to the office and waited for Millie. When we finally arrived the building it was already 9, I saw Owen in the conference, he came earlier than me. This is a special occasion for students since we don’t have such opportunity to observe an int’l meeting and have a conversation with young talents from all over the world. Friends, do you still remember that I flew to Munich to participate in IYDU executive meeting in last November? I was told that the IYDU is going to come to Taiwan soon, therefore, I will take the responsibility again as one of the Taiwanese representatives. They come from the 13 th -17 th , before that, I was struggling with my finals but I still needed to find some time to make my speech-country report. I had like 5 exams on three days, including two presentations. When our chair/vice chair, Jason and Simon arrived on the 12 th , I was in the library. As soon as I had done my last exam, I went to jiantan youth activity center. Jason, Kai, Simon and our senior, Tony were there. I felt so happy to see them but I could barely recognize Jason and Simon since they grew beard now! Others delegates are from Malaysia, Hong Kong, Honduras and Dominican Republic.
