2015.12.31 Countdown to 2016
2015, what a year it has been. Looking back, I have entirely
completed my exchange program in Nuremberg, Germany and left a big hole in some
people’s mind, hoping that I would come back there again and reminisce the good
old time. In November, I did it. I made it to travel back and celebrate the Christmas
with my German friends. It was something I had never expected to happen in such
short amount of time. At that time, I realized my college life had never
reached the peak when in Germany, but soared a little higher when I came back, I
was flying high, I was psyched.
Becky, my senior who is a Christian, invited me to her church to
experience a different Christmas Eve, it was my very first time. I sang songs
with lots of believers and they were all welcoming. It was a lot of fun to me
to get to know more about Jesus, they had an elder preacher who is a well-known
architect in that field to share his story with all of us, it was very
inspiring.

To celebrate the New Year ’s Eve, I stuck with my dear college classmates.
We were 20 people staying overnight in Miaoli. One of my classmates has a spare
house in a rather remote place from the city. She father is very kind, when we
got off from train, he picked us up and drove us to the house and her mom made
an abundant meal, like BBQ and the ingredients were super fresh because they
raised the chickens and slaughtered some for us.
We spent a few hours trying to
finish all the foods as the New Year drew in. I felt the atmosphere was full of
joy and happiness and noise despite the nature of tranquilness of the mountain.
Sometimes you feel satisfied not because of the beauty, but the people you
spend time with. We set off fireworks to symbolize we had cross off 2015 and
ready to embrace the next year. We also took some meaningful pictures and
played games.
Most of us stayed up by playing pokers and some went to sleep. At
dawn, we went out of the building and saw the excellence of being in a
mountain. As my last year in university, I think we made a good start.
