How Do I Feel About Beijing
【One night in Beijing, 我留下許多情....】
This is an old song, saying that he left lots of memories in Beijing, but only one night. I spent 4 nights there, with 20 Taiwanese and 20 Chinese students. My team consists of 2 Taiwanese and 3 Chinese, they are all people with character. Though we just met each other, we could talk freely without feeling unfamiliar. The association arranged many activities for us, they separated us into different groups for many purposes so each person had 5 identities. It became quite annoying when we had all the thing going, sometimes it is troublesome to find your teammate and discuss about your issue. Apart from that, they took us to some most popular sites such as Beijing University, the forbidden city (故宮), the Gate of Heavenly Peace (天安門), Nanluogu xiang(南鑼鼓巷). Beijing University is the top 1 choice for all the students who want to study in China. The forbidden city is very magnificent, astonishing and overwhelming. It had been through many dynasty and changed many Emperors, that also explained how come Beijing has been the Capital City of mainland China for so long. The Gate of Heavenly Peace is just near by, we got off the bus and had some hours free time to enjoy the area, we tried the noodle which is said the most authentic here, called 老北京雜醬麵, it tasted good but the price equals 150 NT dollars. Fortunately they gave each team 300 RMB budget so that we didn't have to spend so much money. However, when we finished our dinner and headed slowly to the Gate, it was already 7 pm, they closed the Gate and banned all the people who wanted to get any closer, they just said they closed the Gate everyday when the sun set, that's so weird and I felt very disappointed. We still tried to make our way to see, and we found a batch of militants training at the plaza in front of the Gate. On 9/3 there will be a big parade celebrating their 70th anniversary of defeating the Japanese troops. Now it is getting intense, the government restricted the transportation and people from going out of their house. On the last day of our stay in Beijing, we visited a very distinguishing lane, Nanluogu xiang. This is a place I want to visit two times or more, it is hard to believe that in such modern city, they still keep something original, like this lane.
