Today is the International night, or you
can say “Taiwanese night” because it is all about Taiwanese stuff. One month
ago, Anastassia asked we Taiwanese people if we would like to present Taiwan to
others, maybe they will be interested in our culture. Ever since we took this
challenge, we have had quite a lot of meetings especially last weekend and
yesterday! We didn’t prepare very well so that’s why I was still revising the
prezi in the morning(My Prezi link), and went to Chinese restaurant to buy more foods and to
the city center to buy everything we needed in the night. We were so much in a
rush!! Even when I came in to the building, I couldn’t use their cable wire to
access the internet.. so all the music we had on youtube couldn’t be played. It
left us no choice, fortunately I still got some Taiwanese songs in my laptop. We
started decorating and cooking and waiting for the people coming.

Very Chinese style |
We expected
that there would be around 30 people coming, but it turned out to be more than
50!!
That’s really exciting but we only have foods, plates and seats for about
40 people, the whole room was so crowded! We got very nervous because it is
very hard to control them, we even prepared a short dancing as our opening, it
was just a way to be funny. Gratefully, they gave us a round of applaud. Then
we started our presentation in front of 50 people, I introduced the beauty of
Taiwan and the Taiwanese foods, Zoey and Ines were responsible for the culture
and history.

I didn’t know why but I didn’t feel nervous at all, even it was my
first time giving a presentation to foreigners. After our presentation, it’s
dinner time, everyone expected that.

Fried noodles, cucumber and spicy chicken |
For Asians, they missed bubble milk tea so
much, I really could understand that because we used to drink a lot! But the
bubbles were all white bubble and not that tasty. We also prepare the dance
teaching and game for them. The dancing part, we used 妳是我的花朵 and 台客舞 as our music to teach them, as to the
game, we played I need blahblahblah(支援前線). They were so
participated in these two parts, although some seemed didn’t like it.

Also
prof. Wellner and Florian came to our Taiwanese night, they kept their promise!
Some people I didn’t know came to me and gave me compliments, I felt so
honored. The activity ended at around 10, we Taiwanese had to clean up the
room, by the time when we finished it was already 12. Today is really my day!!
