2015.01.24-25 Salzburg+Hallstatt

Woke up at 6 and went to Salzburg to meet with Ku and her friend, Victoria, going on an adventure in Salzburg. It took me nearly 6 hours to get there and it was snowing, like the heaviest time I’ve ever seen in my life time, the real snow.

We went for a walk in the city center under the snow. Salzburg is where Mozart was born, there are lots of Mozart chocolate sold in the shops, even in supermarket. I, of course, bought a pack of souvenirs in stores. We visited the Mozart house to see his life, but it cost 8.5 euros and there was not much to see inside, whereas it was still good to know his life and works. There is a castle right up the hill and we walked all the way up, but in the middle, we were asked to pay 10 euros to go further inside, we decided not to pay and just left instead. We also found some recommended restaurants and café shops. When we arrived in the hostel, it was already 9 pm. My roommates were 2 Canadians who just graduated from university, now are enjoying their lives before going to work. The next day we were going to Hallstatt, another beautiful heaven, but Victoria couldn’t join us as she hadn’t finished her thesis. So Ku and I took train to the small town, there we saw 80% of the tourists were Koreans, they might not know each other but it was very interesting to me. Since today is Sunday, and it is low season at the moment, we could enjoy the view but not the people. We took a boat across the river, but the weather was too foggy, the mountain and buildings were not so visible. There we visited the church and played the snow, like we had never seen snow before. Since Hallstatt is a very remote town, not many people live there, the transportation is not convenient. We took the train back in order to go back earlier, nice and pleasant weekend before the strategic management exam.
