The First Day of My Exchange Life
The First Day of My Exchange Life
Spending 13 hours on the plane and tried to
find the way to my destination all on my own is so interesting yet not
interesting. It’s more like an adventure rather than a trip. The only way I can
find my direction is to ask strangers, including Taiwanese and foreigners. I
met many people like me who wanted to buy the subway ticket but didn’t know
how. We found a woman who spoke German to help us buy the tickets; I think she
is not German but a local person here. I didn’t know why they cancelled the train
just when it was supposed to be arrived in 5 minutes! That just made me feel
nervous if I was in a hurry… and thankfully I got to Frankfurt Hbf ( Frankfurt
train station ).
I lost the direction again because I couldn’t find Flixbus
stop which would take me to Nurnberg. At this moment, an old man came to me and
spoke Chinese : 小夥子要去哪啊 ( I was holding my travelling book
then ) ? he was very kind and guided me to Flixbus. With his help, I was able to
sit at the table and to enjoy my breakfast until the bus came. The first food I
bought in Germany is a bread with tomatoes and cheese inside. It’s tasty but a
bit too hard to eat.
At Frankfurt Hbf, I was quite shocked that so many
strangers asked me for money; it was also a special experience for me…
The Flixbus bus was crazy!!!! It was
supposed to show up at 12:00 but turned out been late for over 2.5 hours!! I
was nervous and tried to make a phone call to my buddy, Stephan, and to my
surprise he answered my phone!! ( however I can’t text messages here ). It took
me 4 hours from Frankfurt to Nurnberg. It was so great him at the bus station.
Nurnberg was so freaking cold!!! That’s crap ass but I sort of saw it coming…
he said I will get used to it but I think it will take a while…
He showed me the direction and drove me to
my dorm. We also met Amber, another exchange student from Hong Kong. Then he
took me to McDonald’s where I had my dinner. One big mac cost me 6.59 that was
way too expensive…
The house I live in is not close to my
school, it’s 3 km away. Either I walk 30 minutes or take bus there in the
future. Besides, there is a supermarket called “Penny” and I can easily buy
some food from there.
It took me 2 hours to set my room up except
for the internet, so I wrote my diary and went to bed earlier to prepare for
tomorrow.
